About Us

St. Peter's is a welcoming, family-friendly, Church of England church situated in the heart of Fulham. We are a growing congregation of all ages, young and old, that is seeking to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the local community. We meet at 10 o'clock on Sunday mornings for a traditional service of Holy Communion and at 6:30pm for a more contemprary style of service.  There is a fantastic Sunday school for the children and a crèche for the toddlers and babies in the mornings. On the first Sunday of each month the morning and evening services meet together for Together @ Ten, an all-age family service that is followed by a bring-and-share lunch.

History

Formed as a parish in 1883, St. Peter's flourished for many years as a church; in recent years without the leadership and vision of a full-time minister it has struggled, but remained open! In January 2010 it formed a new and innovative partnership with a local, vibrant, recently planted Anglican congregation - Emmanuel Fulham - and the two communities are working together in mission and ministry in the local area.

Staff

Rupert Standring (Senior Minister)

Rupert has been Vicar of St. Peter’s since January 2010 and Minister of Emmanuel Fulham since May 2007. Before that he was Minister of Christ Church Mayfair for 5 years, where he began a brand new Sunday morning family congregation from scratch. Ordained in 1995, he has served in both large and small churches in London and Rochester dioceses and also spent 5 years on the staff of The Cornhill Training Course – a non-denominational course training people to preach the Bible more effectively. He is married to Becky and they have four daughters.  They have lived in Fulham since 2004 and enjoy the river being so close by but hate the traffic jams on the Fulham Palace Road!

Ed Kendall (Curate)

Ed is married to Sally and they have three young children (Harry, Isabella and Theo). Having taught for seven years in south-west London, he thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the other side of the desk whilst training for ministry at Oak Hill College. He's now delighted to be back in Fulham, having lived here for many years prior to college. Ed is a big fan of Ipswich Town FC (it's not always an easy relationship), anything to do with cricket, and some things to do with politics.

Olly Elliott (Youth and Children's Minister)

Olly has been involved in youth and children’s ministry around the country for a number of years, and for the last two has been heading up the youth team at a church in central London.  He moved to Fulham in September 2010, and is excited about living out in the sticks (zone 2) for a while.  When he’s not playing games, humming kids songs, or thinking up new ways to teach the Bible to children, he likes paddling in the sea, country pubs, real fires, cooking (and eating), or settling in with a really good book.

Nathan Sherwood (Administrator)

Nathan has been on the staff here since summer 2011 and is really enjoying the challenge of working hard for the glory of God here in Fulham.  Nathan has done a few different things in his life so far: from overseas mission work to studying Engineering at University; from working with Christian students in London to working on the Olympic site as an Engineer.  When not working in the office he enjoys making the most of living in the cultural capital of the world, as well as getting out into the countryside for long walks that (hopefully!) end in a pub with a real fire.
